About SILVIE
SILVIE is me, Jess — cooking, baking, writing and making things from my kitchen in East Oxford.
SILVIE began as a café in 2016 and for seven years it was a very real, busy and much-loved place filled with food, cakes, cinnamon buns and people. I closed the café in 2023, but never really wanted SILVIE to disappear. Instead, it has slowly found its way into something new — a place for me to explore food, hospitality, community and the everyday rituals that happen around a table.
I still make bespoke cakes for weddings, celebrations and commissions, alongside occasional catering and food projects. From September 2026, I’ll also be launching Community Table by SILVIE — a temporary café, gathering place and evolving artwork in Little Clarendon St, Oxford, exploring hospitality and the third spaces we share. There’ll be a tiny changing menu, good things to eat, DIY tea and coffee and somewhere to sit for a while.
Beyond the kitchen, I’m beginning to document more of what I cook, make and notice along the way — recipes, photographs, films, writing, places, people and ideas.
So this next version of SILVIE is a bit of a discovery. Less about running another café and more about following where food can take people.
You can follow along on Instagram, subscribe to my newsletter - shall I go substack? Come and find me at Community Table, or get in touch about cakes, commissions and collaborations.
And yes, there will still be cinnamon buns.
