About SILVIE

SILVIE is me, Jess — cooking, baking, writing and making things from my kitchen in East Oxford.

SILVIE began as a café in 2016 and for seven years it was a very real, busy and much-loved place filled with food, cakes, cinnamon buns and people. I closed the café in 2023, but never really wanted SILVIE to disappear. Instead, it has slowly found its way into something new — a place for me to explore food, hospitality, community and the everyday rituals that happen around a table.

I make bespoke cakes for birthdays, weddings, celebrations and commissions, alongside occasional catering and food projects. Community Table by SILVIE continues at The NEST on Thursdays, 12–4pm, run by The NEST team with cakes, DIY tea and coffee, and space to spend a little time. I’ll also pop up occasionally with buns, bakes and other good things. See the Diary for upcoming dates.

Beyond the kitchen, I’m beginning to document more of what I cook, make and notice along the way — recipes, photographs, films, writing, places, people and ideas.

So this next version of SILVIE is a bit of a discovery. Less about running another café and more about following where food can take people.
